World Tourism Day 2026 - Kalutara

The Sub-Committee on Tourism of the District Coordinating Committee, Kalutara, celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 with a grand ceremony on **04th October 2026** — the culmination of a week-long tourism product-development programme carried out from **27th September to 04th October**, across all fourteen divisions of our district. This was a shared achievement, made possible by the collective dedication of our team, our partners and our communities. We were honoured to hold the event under the distinguished patronage of: 🔹 Hon. Vijitha Herath – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism 🔹 Hon. (Prof.) Ruwan Ranasinghe – Deputy Minister of Tourism 🔹 Mr. Flynn Marioni – Deputy Head of Chancery & Head of Consular Affairs and Finance, Embassy of Switzerland 🔹 Mr. Suranjith Wevita – Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority 🔹 Mr. Dheera Hettiarachchi – Chairman, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management 🔹 Dr. Mahesh Thiththagallage – Chairman, Western Province Tourist Board 🔹 Mr. Sunanda Herath – District Secretary, Kalutara We also warmly thank the Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Council Members, the Bentota–Beruwala Hoteliers' Association, the Kalutara Hoteliers' Association, school tourism club members, and the industry leaders who joined us. On the day, we released a specially produced video showcasing the district's most treasured locations, and officially launched our new product-based tourism platform, 🌐 **www.ceylontravelmap.com**, designed and developed by Mr. Dilupa Jayanatha Peiris. Throughout the week, undergraduates of the **Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka**, under the guidance of **Dr. Sarath Munasinghe**, made an invaluable contribution, with the product-development process led by **Mr. Prageeth De Silva**, Consultant to the Sub-Committee on Tourism. The coordination of the Sub-Committee's work was carried out by **Mr. Samith Yasantha Bamunusingha**, Tourism Development Officer of the District Secretariat, whose commitment held every part of this effort together.
